BSAC'S, Rebreather Try Dive Events.
This is the best way to try and see if rebreathers are for you don't worry if you don't get the hang of the rebreather on your try dive, that will come during your training.
To register your interest in these events, please fill in the contact form below
Unsure if rebreathers are for you ! Contact us and we can get you booked onto one of out try dive events. Before the dive we will give you an overview of rebreathers in general and then explain how the unit you will be diving on the day operates, The dive usually lasts between 30 - 40 Min's enough time for you to experience the silent world of rebreathers.
Thank you for your CCR try dive request. we will be in contact within the next 24 hours.
BSAC CCR COURSES
All the New BSAC Poseidon CCR courses are currently being re-written to fall in Lise with ISO standards.
The new BSAC Poseidon CCR Course list will be as follows.
MOD 1 ( 40m 10 min deco ) ( 8 Dives )
45 M Trimix add on to MOD 1 Course ( 2 dives ) (February 2023)
Mod 2 ( 60m Normoxic Trimix )
Mod 3 ( 80m Hypoxic Trimix )
BSAC’s CCR Diver (40m)
It’s a great way to learn the basics about closed-circuit rebreathers.
Who is this course for ?
The CCR Diver (40m) course teaches a qualified open-circuit diver to dive with a Poseidon Se7en.
You will get a thorough grounding in rebreather technology, alongside unit-specific training, and learn how to adapt your existing diving skills to a new world where you benefit from always breathing an optimum gas mix.
To enrol on the CCR Diver (40m) course you must have successfully completed a BSAC Sports Diver course with 35-metre depth certification, and have at least 50 logged dives. You also need to be an Advanced Nitrox Diver (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
THE SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN
You’ll learn to safely dive a closed-circuit rebreather to a maximum of 40 metres using air diluent, including carrying out decompression and gas planning. You’ll develop your practical CCR diving techniques and get to grips with how to respond to kit failure.
The CCR Diver (40m) course includes nine theory sessions covering physics, physiology, dive conduct and potential kit problems, and two dry practical sessions on preparing and maintaining your rebreather. There is a sheltered-water training dive to introduce new skills. Then you’ll spend at least 360 minutes on a minimum of six open-water dives, to ensure that you have plenty of in-water time to practise the skills and discipline needed for CCR diving.
This is a continually assessed course during which students must reach the required standards.
BSAC’s Explorer Mixed Gas CCR Diver (60m) course is a great way to extend your existing closed-circuit mixed gas diving skills to 60m.
You will extend the diluent gas mixes that you can use, learning to use normoxic gas mixes containing at least 18 per cent oxygen and a maximum of 35 per cent helium to minimise the narcosis you would otherwise suffer at depth. You will learn to plan and conduct dives to 60m, and extend your practical diving skills to manage two stage cylinders.
The Explorer Mixed Gas CCR Diver (60m) course includes a dry practical session to review your kit set up, a sheltered-water lesson to practise managing two stage cylinders, an assessed dive-planning session and an assessed open-water mixed-gas dive to a maximum depth of 60m. If you attend a combined Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) and Explorer Mixed Gas CCR Diver (60m) course, the kit review and sheltered-water lessons are optional refresher sessions, delivered depending on your level of deep-diving experience and familiarity with the dive kit appropriate for a 60m dive.
BSAC’s Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m) course is a great way to extend your already considerable closed-circuit mixed-gas diving skills to expedition level.
Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m) is the ultimate step in BSAC's closed-circuit mixed-gas training. It introduces an experienced CCR Diver (40m) to diving with an extended choice of trimix gases, and qualifies them to dive such mixes to depths of up to 80m.
There are various routes to enrol on the Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m) course. You must be at least 18 years old and be able to demonstrate high proficiency diving a rebreather, usually with between 80 and 100 CCR dives logged. This means you may have successfully completed either a CCR Diver (40m) course, or a Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) course (or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
If you have already completed an Explorer Mixed Gas CCR Diver (60m), Advanced Mixed Gas Diver (80m) or Explorer Mixed Gas Diver (60m) course, at your instructors discretion you may not have to repeat some common course elements.
